Recommended Protections
Some of these protections are enabled by default. These will protect you against most game exploits without compromising the stability of GTA.
If you want to further expand your protections but are not sure about how to use them, make sure you check out the following guide, created by the 2Take1 Tester and Staff team.
Protections Guide
Disable Background Script⚓︎
The background script is used by Rockstar to push code and perform live updates on the online game. Disabling this script will protect you from hot updates from Rockstar.
Block Crash⚓︎
Stop modders from crashing your game. You can also get notifications of certain crash attempts.
Block Desync Kick⚓︎
Stop modders from making your game desync from the lobby (being left in a solo public lobby).
Block Sound Spam⚓︎
Stop modders from looping annoyingly loud sounds on your game.
Block Script Event Kick⚓︎
Stop modders from kicking you out of the lobby through any kind of Script Events. If you want to get notifications of incoming kick events, use event hooks.
There are some exceptions however:
- Host kick – This kick cannot be blocked, but only the Session Host can perform it.
- Desync kick – This kick cannot be blocked either, but it will not work on the Session Host.
- Vote kicks – The kick itself cannot be blocked, but if you kick or crash those players who vote you, their votes will be removed.
Block Reports⚓︎
When a player in your lobby reports you from the Pause menu, the report first goes through your client, and then it is sent to the Rockstar servers and added to your statistics. This feature allows you to discard the report before it reaches the server.
The report statistics can only be edited by the server. Reports that already reached the server, or that were submitted from the Social Club website, cannot be removed at all.
Block Attach Clusters⚓︎
Stop modders from creating long chains of attachments to crash your game. You can also get notifications of players attempting so.
Block Collectable Drops⚓︎
Stop modders from dropping certain collectables (such as RP) on you. You can also get notifications of players attempting so.
Block Money Drops⚓︎
Stop modders from dropping money on you. You can also get notifications of players attempting so.
Block Attachments⚓︎
Stop modders from attaching entities to you. You can also get notifications of players attempting so.
Block Cage Objects⚓︎
Stop modders from trapping you inside entities. You can also get notifications of players attempting so.
Clear Attachments⚓︎
Remove any entity attached to you.
Block Clones⚓︎
Stop modders from spawning clones of your ped on you. You can also get notifications of players attempting so.
Block Model Changes⚓︎
Stop modders from changing your character model. You can also get notifications of players attempting so.
Block From Modders⚓︎
These filters prevent players marked as modders from sending events and entities to you, helping stop possible attacks. These are your last line of defence, and they rely on a proper modder detection.
You may block the following events from modders:
- Global broadcast (blocks everything)
- Script events
- Network events
- Automobiles
- Bikes
- Boats
- Cunts (makes the player appear frozen)
- Doors
- Helicopters
- Objects
- Pedestrians
- Pick-ups
- Pick-up placements
- Submarines
- Trailers
- Trains
Rockstar Admin Detection⚓︎
Make 2Take1 scan for Rockstar admins joining your lobby. When an admin is detected, you may receive a notification, bail from the lobby, or both.
There are three ways to detect an admin. You may enable these detections individually, as well as the action to take when they are triggered:
- By SCID – Triggers when the SCID of the client matches a known list of admin SCIDs.
- By Dev Flag – Triggers when the client toggles the
is_rockstar_dev
native. - By IP address – Triggers when the IP address of the client matches a known Take-Two subnet.
These detections are not flawless, as modders are able to spoof their info to impersonate a Rockstar admin. False positives are possible.
Block SCID Join Detection⚓︎
Stop modders from noticing if you join them by SCID.
Block Spectate Detection⚓︎
Stop modders from noticing if you spectate them.
Block Vehicle Hijack⚓︎
Stop modders from hijacking your vehicle.
Notify When Someone Spectates Me⚓︎
Display a notification when someone is spectating you.
Notify When Modder Is Detected⚓︎
Display a notification when a player gets marked as modder, as well as the reason of the detection.
Notify When Someone Drops Cash⚓︎
Display a notification when someone drops money in your session.
Enforce ASCII Player Names⚓︎
Force the player list to use ASCII characters for the player names, as some Unicode characters are known to crash the game.
Presence Events⚓︎
Block certain presence events, which could be used to crash your game. You can block and/or notify malicious MP invites and text messages from everyone, or only allow those who come from your friends. You can also prevent being forced into spectator mode by blocking presence stat updates and malicious game invites.
Kick Host on Host Kick⚓︎
If you are kicked from the lobby by the network host, they will be kicked as well.
Mission Launcher⚓︎
Prevent modders from launching missions in your lobby, and optionally get notifications of people attempting so. You may also whitelist friends, as well as legit Freemode events.
Entity Throttler⚓︎
The entity throttlers allow 2Take1 to stop modders from spamming entities (peds, vehicles or objects) around you. When a throttler kicks in, the player that spawned all the entities will be marked as modder, in order to prevent further entity syncs.
2Take1 includes several types of throttlers, which will scan for specific types of entities:
Auto Throttler⚓︎
This is the easiest to set up, as it will scan all entities around you; however, it might lead to ocassional false positives due to its generalized filters.
The following settings are available:
- Cleanup – When the throttler kicks in, all the spawned entities around you will be deleted.
- Interval – Specify (in seconds) how long the entity sync should last to be considered a spam.
- Timeout – Specify (in seconds) how long the affected player will be unable to sync entities with you.
- Total Limit – Specify a limit in the amount of entities that should be synced.
- High Limit – Specify a limit in the amount of high priority entities that should be synced.
- Model Limit – Specify a limit in the amount of entities with identical models that should be synced.
This throttler will kick in when a player reaches any of the entity limits (total, high or model) within the specified interval.
For better results, avoid using the auto throttler if you use any of the others and viceversa; they are not meant to run together.
Ped/Vehicle/Object Throttling⚓︎
These throttlers are aimed to block individual types of entities (peds, vehicles and objects, respectively). When properly configured, they can provide better results than the auto throttler.
The following settings are available for each throttler:
- Cleanup – When the throttler kicks in, all the corresponding entities around you will be deleted.
- Interval – Specify (in seconds) how long the entity sync should last to be considered a spam.
- Limit – Specify a limit in the amount of the entities that should be synced.
- Radius – Specify a distance around you where the entities will be scanned.
These throttlers will kick in when a player reaches the entity limit within the specified radius and time interval.
Big Vehicles⚓︎
This throttler is aimed to block certain large vehicles which are commonly used in spam attacks by modders. These vehicles are included in the high priority list of the auto throttler, among others.
The following settings are available:
- Maximum Vehicles – Specify a limit in the amount of big vehicles that should be synced.
- Radius – Specify a distance around you where big vehicles will be scanned.
This throttler will kick in when a player reaches the maximum vehicles limit within the specified radius.
